Dougie Evans, COMPOSER

Dougie Evans is specialised in organic composition and sound design. His work finds ways to accommodate instruments and found sounds with electronic textures, and using familiar sounds in unfamiliar ways to create a unique world for each soundtrack.

He is Co-Artistic Director of Lîla Dance, and has worked extensively for contemporary dance with previous collaborations including , Commotion Dance, Ludus Dance, Ieva Kuniskis, Yael Flexer & Nic Sandiland, The Ballet Boyz, Bootworks Theatre Collective, The Mayakaras, Stopgap Dance, Platform-K, Micadanses, Indepen-dance, Aya Kobayashi, 3fall, Joe Darby, Kai Downham, Liz Richards, Katie-Joan Lawson, and Jerrel Jackson Dance Company.

Evans has written substantially for the guitar; regularly recording, performing and improvising. He released a free to download soundwalk for The National Trust site Devil's Dyke, which is a short collection of guitar and cello improvisations recorded with field recorders on site.  In June 2010 he released his début album Movement a collection of work for guitar and piano, set to found sounds and field recordings. Recent collaborations include, 'Reclining Figure 2014' at the Tate Britain with Japanese Dance Artist Aya Kobayashi, a short opera called 'Out into the Cold' (2013) with award winning mezzo-soprano Jane Turner, 'Devil's Dyke Soundwalk' with cellist and improviser Tim Scarlett, and a score to Bliss, an audio short story by writer Ed Pratt for the iamjoy arts festival in Chichester.

He trained in Music with English and Creative Writing at the University of Chichester, graduating in 2008.
