Luka Vardiashvili, VISUAL ARTIST

Luka Vardiashvili was born in Georgia on the brink of civil war. He fled with his family to The UK at the age of 6. He grew up in London in a very rich multicultural society. Luka paints to tell stories and describe emotion.
He studied at Central Saint Martins, Byam Shaw School of Art 2008-2010. During his studies he travelled to Chicago, Paris, New York and Michigan where he discovered light and the blues. His journeys helped him understand space and distance. In 2011 he revisited Georgia for the first time, this left a strong mark on his understanding of colour. He later travelled to Vienna, Czech Republic, Denmark, and Berlin to seek out a fresh perspective on life, settling back in London.
For the past 4 years he has been exploring movement, dance and music as his main form of expression. He has worked with international artists, choreographers, performers and dancers and is actively seeking opportunities to continue to develop his practise. He is currently working with painter Anthony Daley whilst assisting at the Essential School of Painting.
Ieva and Luka met in 2015 for a special performance of Women's Tales, where responding live Luka created colourful and dynamic abstract portraits of each of the performers, inviting audience to observe and draw their own responses.
